Gianluca Aguzzi is a postdoctoral research fellow and adjunct professor at the University of Bologna (Italy), where he received his PhD in Computer Science & Engineering in 2023 with a thesis on language-based engineering of cyber-physical swarms, awarded the IEEE TCSC Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award. His research brings together software engineering for collective adaptive systems and machine learning: macroprogramming and aggregate computing, swarm robotics, multi-agent reinforcement learning, decentralised federated learning and, more recently, generative AI for engineering distributed systems. He has 60+ publications in international journals and conferences, and received the ACSOS'25 Best Student Paper Award and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Seal of Excellence. He designed or co-designed several open-source tools, including MacroSwarm, ScaRLib, FRASP, Phyelds, and ScaFi-Web. He teaches software design and modelling in Bachelor’s and Master’s courses at the University of Bologna, and serves the community as Area Chair at AAMAS'26, Web and AI Chair at ACSOS'26, Artifact Evaluation Chair at COORDINATION'26, and guest editor for special issues in Elsevier, Springer, and MDPI journals. He holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor.
